With the Labdoc blood sugar test, you can easily have your HbA1c level determined at home – this provides information about your long-term blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months. An elevated value can be an indication of existing diabetes mellitus or a precursor to it.

Diabetes mellitus is divided into type 1 and type 2. While type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and usually occurs in childhood, various risk factors are known for type 2 diabetes, which usually develops in adulthood.

Early detection of diabetes is important because insulin therapy can protect against many secondary diseases and prolong life expectancy.

With your blood sugar test, you can determine your blood sugar level independently and quickly from home. The self-collection kit contains collection material for a small blood sample from the fingertip, which is examined in our accredited diagnostic laboratory using immunological measurement. You will receive the laboratory result after just a few days.

Test Activation and Lab Result

To activate your self-sampling kit, create a user account on the online portal https://www.selbstlabor.de. In your health area, you can activate your test kit using the code included in the kit. Without test activation, the sample cannot be assigned to you. Once your laboratory result is available, you can retrieve it securely with another code included in the kit. The laboratory report contains your individual sample number, which allows us to uniquely identify your sample, your measured values and a description of whether your measured value is within the reference range or whether a pathogen detection is negative or
positive.

Implementation

  • 1. Order Test

    Choose the test that suits you from our range of accredited tests.

  • 2. Register Test

    Once you have received your self-collection kit, register your test using the included code in your health area at selbstlabor.de

  • 3. Test at home

    You can conveniently take the samples wherever you want.
    The sample is sent back to us in the enclosed transport container in the return envelope.

  • 4. Get results

    A few days later, you can securely access and download your lab result.

Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water, disinfect your middle or ring finger with the enclosed alcohol swab, and let it dry briefly. Remove the protective cap from the lancet, place it on the side of your fingertip, and press lightly – wipe away the first drop of blood, then apply subsequent drops to the marked circles on the dried blood spot card.

Do I have to avoid sugar at the time of the test?

The HbA1c value is also known as "blood sugar memory" and indicates the
average blood sugar level over the past 8 – 12 weeks before the measurement.
A temporarily elevated blood sugar level at the time of self-collection does
not affect the measurement.

What should I do if my test result is abnormal?

A test result is abnormal if the HbA1c value is elevated and outside the normal range. This may indicate existing diabetes or a pre-diabetic condition. Please consult your doctor with the test result; they will advise you and initiate further diagnostic steps if necessary.
