Discreet infection tests
Order anonymously online, test at your own pace, and take charge of your health.
Our tests enable early detection of STIs even if no symptoms are (yet) present. STIs detected early can be treated more effectively, and complications can be avoided.
Regular STI testing is a sign of responsible behavior towards oneself and one's sexual partners and prevents infecting other people.

STI Test – HPV
Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are widespread and primarily colonize the skin and mucous membranes. 85% to over 90% of all sexually active people will be infected with HPV at least once in their lives. Our HPV test is used to detect the most important high-risk variants of human papillomaviruses.
Information on the individual pathogens
Chlamydia
The bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis is, alongside gonococci, the most common cause of sexually transmitted diseases. Chlamydia trachomatis can be detected in 5% - 10% of young, sexually active women, but men can also be infected. Coinfections with gonococci occur. The infection can remain asymptomatic for a long time. Symptoms primarily appear on the uterine lining, from where the infection then spreads. In men, an infection usually manifests first as urethritis.
Syphilis
The spirochete Treponema pallidum is the causative agent of syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection of global importance. For several years, an increase in the incidence rate has also been observed in Western countries, with men being particularly affected. Syphilis typically progresses in three stages: a so-called primary chancre (usually a painless ulcer at the point of entry) forms a few days to weeks after infection. In the secondary stage, the disease manifests itself through general symptoms and skin manifestations, and in the tertiary stage (years after the initial infection), damage to the brain and blood vessels can occur.
HIV
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) belongs to the group of retroviruses and is transmitted through infectious bodily fluids (e.g., semen, vaginal secretions), particularly during unprotected sexual contact. Another common route of infection is the shared use of injection needles, for example, during intravenous drug use. Initial symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, exanthema, or difficulty swallowing usually last for 1-2 weeks. This is often followed by many symptom-free years until the onset of AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). HIV is prevalent worldwide, especially in sub-Saharan African countries, but even in Germany, approximately 2,000 people are newly infected with HIV each year (as of 2020).
Gonococci
The gram-negative bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae (gonococcus) is the pathogen responsible for gonorrhea, also known as "the clap." Infection is only possible through sexual contact. The pathogen is widespread globally. Since there is no mandatory reporting in Germany, little epidemiological data is available. The infection can be accompanied by a chlamydia infection. In women, an infection manifests as cervicitis with purulent-mucous discharge. The infection can ascend further and even trigger sepsis. In men, it leads to purulent urethritis, which can also affect the prostate and epididymis.
Trichomonads
The single-celled parasite Trichomonas vaginalis is the cause of the infectious disease trichomoniasis. The parasite is found worldwide and is primarily transmitted sexually. In Germany, there is no obligation to report cases. An infection often remains asymptomatic for a long time. If symptoms do occur, they manifest in women as "Trichomonas colpitis" (inflammation of the vaginal lining) with frothy, white-yellow discharge. In men, however, inflammation of the urethra and glans penis usually occurs.
Mycoplasmas
The bacterium Mycoplasma genitalium belongs to the group of mycoplasmas, which are ubiquitous. This group differs primarily in the absence of a cell wall, which means that conventional antibiotics cannot be used. In addition, resistance to common therapeutics is increasing. The pathogen can be sexually transmitted and cause urethral infection. An infection can also be found in patients with other urogenital infections, although it is not clear whether Mycoplasma genitalium is the causative agent.
HPV
There are over 200 different types of human papillomavirus. The viruses are divided into low- and high-risk HPV types based on their likelihood of causing cancer. In the case of a long-standing infection with a high-risk HPV type, a malignant tumor can develop (e.g., cervical cancer, cancer of the vagina, penis, or anus). An infection initially shows no symptoms. HPV occurs worldwide and is sexually transmitted. Low-risk HPV types are the cause of genital warts.
Implementation
-
1. Set Selection
The test kits detect different pathogens. Depending on the suspected pathogen, it is sometimes sufficient to test specifically for one pathogen. Our combi-packages offer greater certainty with a wide range of pathogens. Choose the set that suits you best.
-
2. Discreet delivery
The test kit will be delivered to you in a few days, and you can perform the sampling whenever and wherever you want. Self-sampling is described in the detailed instructions provided in the test kit and demonstrated in the explanatory video for each test.
-
3. Self-collection
Depending on the type of test, different samples are taken: a swab, urine or blood from a fingertip. The samples are very easy to take yourself.
-
4. Shipping
After self-collection, free shipping to the lab follows.
-
5. Outcome
A few days after receipt in our laboratory, you will receive your medically reviewed and commented lab results as a PDF download.
-
6. Clarification
In case of an abnormal result, we recommend consulting your doctor. The lab result provides him/her with important clues for further diagnostics and therapy.
Easy to implement
With our detailed and easy-to-understand instructions, the self-test can be carried out quickly and easily from the comfort of your own home.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the STI Test Plus and the STI Test - HIV, Syphilis?
The STI test kits differ in the scope of pathogens tested and also in self-sampling. The HIV-Syphilis set detects HIV and syphilis from a blood sample from the fingertip. The
STI Test Plus also includes the detection of gonorrhea (clap), chlamydia, trichomonads and Mycoplasma genitalium. This extended pathogen spectrum is determined from a blood sample and a urine sample.
When should I use which test?
If you have regular sexual contact with multiple partners, regular testing with comprehensive test kits is recommended, as this increases your risk of STIs and can protect yourself and others from unnoticed transmissions. If you have specific concerns or known contact with an STI, testing for a single pathogen or a few pathogens may be sufficient.
Is regular testing necessary?
If you have regular contact with multiple sexual partners, regular testing is recommended to protect against unnoticed transmissions.
How do I deal with a positive test result?
A positive test result can be very unsettling, and we recommend that you consult your doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Even though it may be difficult, please inform your sexual partners about the infection if possible. A specific test would also be advisable for your partners.
What is confirmatory diagnostics?
For the detection of some STIs, a very sensitive screening test is initially performed to identify all infected cases.
Subsequently, confirmatory diagnostics are carried out to validate a positive screening test result. These confirmatory diagnostics prevent false-positive results from being reported and are automatically appended to the screening test.
Why is confirmatory diagnostics useful?
Especially for diseases requiring treatment, it is important to confirm or, if necessary, refute the result.
How do I get the confirmation diagnostics?
Confirmatory diagnostics are initiated directly and automatically if a screening test is positive. This service is free of charge for you, and you do not need to take any separate steps.
What is the advantage of buying from Labor Krone?
The sample taken usually allows for direct confirmatory diagnostics, so you do not need to send in a new sample and will receive a confirmed result.
